Description:
Black and White photo of group of men with band instruments on Franklin St. Overall picture is very light and overexposed.
Band consists of about 15 men. Men on left are holding brass instruments and two men at right have drums (bass and snare). To the right of the men are a group of onlookers, mostly men and children. A blurry image of a dog is in bottom right corner. Buildings and hill are visible in the background. A sign for Palace Theater is visible in back. To the right is a bell tower with ladders leaned up against it. . In the bottom right is the number "176".
On the back of the photo written in pencil: "Believed to be the earliest picture of Juneau fire equipment — 1885—1890. City bank in front of bell tower which also housed ladders and hose. Location? About 2nd & Franklin". Below this is a stamp "Copied by J. S. MacKinnon" Two pieces of tape are also on back of print
