Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency" and front logo for Perfect Photo, Inc.). The frame is labeled "Gold Mine Tour 7—2—68" in handwriting. The image shows a semi—aerial westward looking view of Douglas Island and the Gastineau Channel from Juneau. In the immediate foreground, there is a line of thin treetops, probably below a high outcropping where the image was captured. At left, still on the near shore, there is a bulging area of land, perhaps landfill, on which lie a structure and a radio tower. The Channel makes up the middling area, and beyond, Douglas Island occupies the background. Three mountains are in the frame, snowcapped. At their feet, the settlement of Douglas or perhaps West Juneau is clustered. The number "13" is printed in ink on the frame at the lower right, and the text "JUL 68" is etched on the lower edge, possibly signifying the date of development.
