Title:
Letter to Juneau Mayor Sally Smith from the Trust for Public Land dated August 7, 2003.
Date:
08/07/2003
Scope & Content:
Letter to Juneau Mayor Sally Smith from the Trust for Public Land dated August 7, 2003. It is a thank you letter for her help and support in assisting in obtaining protection for a 10.5 acre parcel adjacent to Brotherhood Park, where the Juneau Raptor Center is also planning to relocate. At the end is also an invitation to join a September 13, 2003 celebration marking the event. She was sent a formal invitation later.
"Dear Mayor Smith,
I am pleased to share that, with your help, the Trust for Public Land has protected the 10.5—acre parcel adjacent to Juneau's Brotherhood Park and conveyed the land to the City of Juneau. This property is on the west side ofthe glacier—fed Mendenhall River in the picturesque Mendenhall Valley. Once slated for development, this property will become part of the signature park and will also offer a site for a new home of the currently displaced Juneau Raptor Center.
Your dedication to this important project was a critical piece in its success. The many letters and calls of support and thanks to Senator Stevens truly showed the community's support for this conservation project.
The Brotherhood Park project exemplifies TPL's mission to conserve land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens and natural places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come and we are delighted to have played a role in its conservation.
We are so appreciative of your help and support and hope that you will be able to join us for a celebration event on September 13th. Invitations and details will be mailed soon. Please feel free to contact me at any time.
Thank you again,
Rinee Merritt"
