Scope & Content:
A — Light beige envelope, 8.25" x 6.25", made of stiff waxy semi—translucent paper. Edges are darker color than the rest. Front opens completely into two flaps; top flap is pointed and covers top half of envelope, bottom flap is slightly trapezoidal (edges taper as they go up, approximately 1.5 inch between bottom corners and top corners) and covers .8 of envelope. Two horizontal slits in bottom flap for point of top flap to tuck into; upper slit is 6 inches long, lower slit is three inches long. Sides fold inward, creating .75 inch cuff at proper right and proper left edges.
B — Five—Year Normal Diploma, University of Washington, issued to Thomas Floyd Dryden on March 22, 1935. Edges of diploma are tucked under cuffs on either side of envelope, which hold it in place. Black calligraphy on off—white, waxy paper with some first letters and university seal printed in purple and gold ink. Indicates that Political Science is his major subject and History is his minor subject. Signed by University President, Board of Regents President, and Dean, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
C — Note tucked inside diploma envelope, 4inches x 2.25 inches, printed in black on white paper. Form reads "The University Does not reissue diplomas, teaching cer— / tificates, and like documents. Preserve all such docu— / ments carefully, using photostat copies when permitted. / E. B. STEVENS, Registrar."
