Scope & Content:
Envelope. In the upper proper left corner are two purple postage stamps adhered to the envelope with adhesive. Both stamps are for three cents and feature a illustration of Mount McKinley and farm fields. In the lower proper right corner is the addressee's information. The envelope is addressed to "Miss. Patience Harland, \ c/o McKee Hall, \ Univ. of Washington, \ Seattle, Wash." At approximately center along the lower edge is a blue—black circular stamp with text reading: "JUNEAU \ NOV. \ 12 \ 9:00 AM \ 1937 \ ALASKA." There are four lines extending from his circular stamp toward the upper proper left corner. In the upper proper right corner is a purple and black stamp featuring an image of the U.S. capitol building and an illustration of Mt. Mckinley in Alaska. Text around the stamp reads: POSSESSIONS SERIES \ FIRST DAY COVER". In the lower proper right corner is handwritten text in pencil reading: "Do Not Open". All three words are underlined. Verso is blank.
